Dean's Message

It has been my pleasure to serve the WSU Carson College of Business since 1997, first as a faculty member and now as interim dean. I have seen the college evolve to meet the changing needs of students and strategically invest all resources we receive to improve the quality and outcomes of our programs across all levels.

Demand for programs in the Carson College continues to grow as our reputation becomes stronger. Recent U.S. News & World Report rankings distinguish us as seventh in the nation for best online graduate business programs and third for best online graduate business programs for veterans. We are proud of these recognitions and others, but our focus is on the future. Our goal is to deliver programs of constantly improving levels of quality, convenience, and relevance. To ensure that graduates stay globally competitive, the college focuses on the following strategic initiatives:

  • Research: Conducting quality research, publishing in our fields’ premier journals, and preparing doctoral students for academic careers.
  • Global Outlook: Broadly developing an appreciation in our students for the cultural and social dimensions of the global business environment.
  • Professional Perspectives: Developing professional and responsible future business leaders.
  • Innovation: Fostering innovative ideas and entrepreneurial thinking in our students and faculty.

The WSU College of Business is a vibrant, internationally-recognized educational environment. Over the past few years, the college has consistently ranked in the top 100 among public national universities by U.S. News and World Report’s America’s Best Colleges; and our undergraduate International Business Program has ranked in the top 25 since 2005. Additionally, we were rated by GI Jobs magazine as among the top colleges, universities, and trade schools in the nation. These distinctions reaffirm our ability to keep pace with rapid advances in technology and changes in the way people work and live. Additionally, the recent extension of our accreditation for business and accounting programs by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International enhances the quality and scope of our programs and services across all degree programs.

I am pleased that you are considering one of our world-class online degree programs. The college is a pioneer in online distance education and was one of the first at WSU to engage in online offerings. Building on over 55 years of experience delivering graduate management education, the college is particularly well-suited to offer the online MBA program. I encourage you to explore this brochure to learn more about our unique program and how it can assist you in achieving your career goals.

I am honored to be leading the Carson College of Business. I hope you will consider joining our online MBA program and have the opportunity to experience the value of a WSU MBA.

Best,
